First flight: Condor passengers can now fly non-stop from Munich to Halifax

Today Germany’s favourite leisure airline celebrated its first departure from Munich to Halifax (YHZ), Canada. At 12:20, the Boeing 767 with flight number DE2418 took off from Munich’s Franz Josef Strauß Airport. The capital of the province Nova Scotia is the first Canadian Condor destination from Munich. With a flight time of only eight hours, Halifax is the destination in North America with the shortest flight time.

Flights are operated by a Boeing 767-300 which, in addition to Economy and Premium Class, also offers the comforts of Business Class. From now on, the non-stop service from Munich to Halifax is offered every Friday during the summer schedule. Canada fans already enjoy comfortable non-stop service from Frankfurt to Halifax, but also to Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, and Whitehorse.

“With five destinations and currently 17 flights per week, Canada is an important and successful part of our Condor flight programme. In the past, we have been able to further extend the trust put in our airline, not only in Germany, but also in Canada. We are now expanding our programme by an additional flight from Munich to connect the south of Germany to the dream destination of Nova Scotia,” says Wilken Bellmann, Head of Network Development Long Haul Condor. “Through our Canadian partner airline, WestJet, we are also offering onward flights to 30 more destinations in Canada such as St. Johns, Ottawa or Deer Lake in Canada.

“We are delighted about this new flight connection between Munich and Halifax and hope that even more German travellers take this opportunity to discover the multitude of Canada’s truly unique and wonderful travel destinations.” Jennifer May, Chargée d’affaires at the Canadian Embassy to Germany.

“Canada is becoming more and more popular and therefore we were very pleased when our long-term partner Condor decided to launch Halifax as a new destination from Munich”, adds Martin
Laubenthal, Director Traffic Development, Munich Airport. “With this, the leisure airline extends its destinations from our airport and offers the biggest and most varied touristic long haul range.”

Halifax, the capital of the Canadian province Nova Scotia, has a population of about 400,000 and is located on a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. Halifax is famous for its harbour which is among North America’s largest seaports. From there, some of the major points of interest, the parliament, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic or Citadel Hill, are easily reached on foot. The star-shaped citadel, Fort George, is regarded as the city’s landmark and is centrally located on Citadel Hill. It is not only an impressive historic fortress but also provides stunning views of the Halifax skyline. The city is also an ideal starting point for a tour through the Atlantic province. Stunning coastal roads take visitors through hundreds of kilometres of some of the most spectacular countryside.
