Vacation carrier <link https: www.condor.com de index.jsp external-link-new-window external link in new>Condor celebrated its inaugural flight from Frankfurt to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) yesterday. As is tradition, the air plane was greeted with a water fountain upon landing in Rio de Janeiro. And appropriate for the Christmas season, the crew brought a Christmas tree on board as a gift, to bring some of the German holiday spirit to far-away Brazil. This special bring-along was very popular in Rio de Janeiro, where Christmas is usually celebrated on the beach or under decorated palms. Passengers also received a little something as part of the inaugural flight.
“We view Rio de Janeiro as a vacation destination with a lot of potential, and want to provide our customers with comfortable non-stop connections to this vacation paradise. Our current Brazilian destinations Fortaleza, Recife and Salvador da Bahia have been very popular, and there is also considerable demand for flights to Rio,” explains Dr. Jens Boyd, Director Long Haul & Revenue Management Condor. “The 2016 Olympics are not far away, and we are looking forward to bringing sports enthusiasts to the Olympic Games from Frankfurt next year.”
“Brazil is becoming an in increasingly popular tourist destination. We are pleased that in addition to the established Brazilian Condor destinations, the vacation carrier is adding a connection to Rio Janeiro - one of the world's most exciting metropolitan areas,” says Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Head of Traffic and Terminal Management, Corporate Safety and Security at Fraport AG.
In addition to Fortaleza, Recife and Salvador da Bahia, Condor now also flies non-stop to Rio de Janeiro, its fourth holiday destination in Brazil. Flights (Boeing 767-300) in Economy Class, Premium Class and Business Class can be booked through all channels.
In 2016, Rio de Janeiro will be the first city in South America to host the Olympic Games. This event will attract sports enthusiasts from all over the world to the city in August 2016. But Rio de Janeiro is also an exciting and all-round vacation destination in other aspects. The city has 13 million inhabitants who live between the coastal mountains and the sandy beaches. Lush vegetation, a warm climate and numerous monuments such as the statue of Christ on the summit of the Corcovado, the Sugar Loaf Mountain or the world famous beaches in the Copa Cabana district define the cityscape of this South American metropolis. Every February, the traditional carnival attracts large numbers of tourists and samba fans to the city, not to mention that city's night life with its many bars, night clubs and restaurants. Rio de Janeiro is an especially attractive destination for active tourists who enjoy hiking and climbing on Sugar Loaf Mountain, surfing along the kilometres-long sand beaches or scuba diving in the Atlantic Ocean.
