FlyPink: Condor again creates awareness for breast cancer in October and supports the German Cancer Aid

Frankfurt, 18 November 2019 - For the fourth time in a row, the leisure airline Condor took off in pink, created awareness of the disease, showed solidarity with all affected people and raised funds for further cancer research. Several thousand Condor employees clearly showed off colors and flew Condor guests to their holiday destination and back home with pink uniform accessories. For the first time, guests of the leisure airline were able to participate in the fundraising campaign on board by buying one bottle of the sparkling wine brand Bottega Rosé and Bottega Gold.

"We are very proud that the number of participants among our Condor employees was even higher this year compared to the past and our guests were able to support the campaign for the very first time," said Christian Schmitt, COO of Condor. "Through the campaign, we were able to make even more people aware of breast cancer and we know that our donation to the German Cancer Aid will help many affected people."

"It is fantastic that Condor employees are once again using the FlyPink campaign to draw people's attention to the important issue of breast cancer," explains Gerd Nettekoven, CEO of the German Cancer Aid. "In Germany, around 500,000 people - including 2,000 children and adolescents – are diagnosed with cancer every year. Despite increasing cure rates and numerous successes in the past, we continue to face major challenges in the fight against cancer. Thanks to the population’s willingness to donate, the German Cancer Aid is able to realize its numerous nationwide activities in all areas of the fight against cancer. Only in this way and with donation initiatives such as those of Condor, we can help cancer patients and their families, improve the care of those affected and advance cancer research," continued Nettekoven. "Condor is showing solidarity with cancer patients with this great campaign - and I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their great commitment.

In October, the month of breast cancer, crew members of the leisure airline again had the opportunity to decorate their uniforms with pink accessories such as bracelets, ties or key rings and at the same time collect donations for breast cancer. In order to attract attention, passengers also received pink amenity kits on long-haul flights in Premium and Business Class. On bord of short- and medium-haul flights, guests donated directly to the German Cancer Aid by purchasing one bottle of the sparkling wine Bottega Rosé and Bottega Gold. The non-profit organization supports projects to improve, prevent, early detect, diagnose and treat as well as projects for medical aftercare in order to give new impetus to cancer research and continue improving the treatment of people with cancer.
