Condor bids farewell to the Boeing 757-300 with a grand farewell party above the clouds

With an emotional farewell flight and a party above the clouds, Condor officially bid farewell to the Boeing 757-300 from its fleet yesterday. The exclusive special flight led from Frankfurt to Vienna and back, marking the end of the Boeing era at Condor. At Vienna Airport, more than 300 long-standing companions, aviation fans, and guests from politics, business, and aviation bid farewell in a festive setting to the last Boeing passenger aircraft of this type in Europe.

On the way from Vienna back to Frankfurt, the “highest party in the world” reflected the emotional significance of this exclusive farewell flight for the company and its employees. On board, employees, long-time companions, and fans of the Boeing 757 celebrated the end of an era and the beginning of Condor’s future with an all-Airbus fleet from now on.

“Vienna as the destination of the farewell flight underlines the growing importance of the new city destinations in Condor’s route network,” said Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor. “Since spring 2025, Condor has been connecting Frankfurt with currently nine attractive metropolises across Europe, which we will even serve three times a day this winter. Vienna Airport and Frankfurt Airport both gave us excellent support in organizing and carrying out our farewell flight. We are very grateful to have such strong partners by our side and are delighted that we were able to celebrate our new chapter together.”

“The Boeing 757 was the symbol of leisure travel at Condor for decades,” said Christian Schmitt, COO of Condor. “With its phase-out, a new fleet era begins for Condor. Our modern Airbus aircraft are quieter, more efficient, and more economical, representing the future of our airline. The fact that we were able to celebrate the end of the Boeing era and the transition to a new chapter with such positive feedback and enthusiasm shows how significant this milestone is for Condor, its employees, and its partners.”

“The fact that a traditional airline like Condor is expanding its base at Vienna Airport is a sign of trust and a strong commitment to Austria as a location,” said Julian Jäger, Member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG. “Three daily flights to Frankfurt mean more connectivity and an even better link to Germany’s largest intercontinental hub. My special thanks go to the entire Condor team for the long-standing and reliable partnership.”

On the occasion of the final B757 flight, Condor also procured an additional amount of Sustainable Aviation Fuel equivalent to a 50-percent blend for the farewell flight and distributed it within the Condor route network. This calculated blending corresponds to the maximum SAF blend currently permitted under international certification standards. The farewell flight of this loyal aircraft type thus also symbolizes the dawn of a new era.

The 35-year success story of Condor and the Boeing 757 began in 1990 with the first flight of this aircraft type from Frankfurt to Antalya. Since then, a total of 33 aircraft of the 757-200 and 757-300 variants have been operated by Condor. The Condor 757 fleet reached its peak in the early 2000s, when 26 aircraft were operated simultaneously—the largest fleet size in its history. The B757-300 in particular, the extended version of the B757-200, was equally popular among employees and guests. Of the only 55 B757-300s ever produced worldwide, about a quarter went to Condor—an industry distinction. The “flying pencils,” measuring over 54 meters in length, were not only technically impressive but also popular photo subjects.
