Condor receives Award for Continuous Service from Yukon

For the past 17 years, Condor customers blazed the trail of travel between the great outdoors of Yukon and Frankfurt, Germany, in the center of Europe. For Condor’s longstanding commitment in the development of Yukon’s tourism, Uwe Balser, Condor’s Chief Operations Officer, accepted the Award for Continuous Service today in Whitehorse. The award was presented by the Honorable Premier of Yukon, Darrell Pasloski, and the Honorable Minister of Tourism and Culture, Elaine Taylor.

“Whitehorse is a corner stone in our long-haul network. Since the inaugural flight on May 18, 1999 we have flown almost 100,000 travelers to one of the most fascinating regions of North America. The Yukon is well known among outdoor enthusiast from the German speaking countries and complements our broad portfolio of destinations very well”, Uwe Balser said during a joint press conference. “We are also pleased to see that more and more Yukoners are using our service for their travels to Europe. This is a great success of our cooperation over the past 17 years.”

Yukon has much to offer as a tourism destination to travelers from German-speaking countries, including beautiful scenery, pristine wilderness, authentic First Nation cultural experiences and endless opportunities for outdoor adventures, “Minister Taylor said. “The Government of Yukon is pleases to recognize Condor Airlines for it longstanding commitment to providing convenient, affordable air access from Frankfurt to Whitehorse.”

Since the first flight in 1999, Condor has been serving Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport during the summer months at least once per week with a Boeing 767. The aircraft features a three class cabin layout with seats in Business, Premium and Economy Class. Condor is the exclusive airline directly connecting Whitehorse with Europe. This summer, Germany’s favorite leisure airline offers direct flights from Whitehorse to Frankfurt each Sunday.
