Halifax Stanfield Welcomes Inaugural Condor Flight from Munich

Passengers flying out of Halifax Stanfield now have a new option for non-stop travel to Germany. Condor began weekly service to Munich on Friday, June 3, 2016 until October, 2016. Passengers from Nova Scotia will now have the option to fly across the pond directly to Southern Germany’s city of Munich. Explore Bavaria and enjoy “Gemütlichkeit”- the feeling of coziness that comes with good food, good beer, great company, and time to take in the sites and enjoy it all. Upon arrival in Munich, travelers will discover a bustling city with picturesque buildings, world famous museums and further attractions like the Neuschwanstein castle or the Alps Mountains in very close proximity. Would you like to hear the “sound of Music”? Salzburg is just around the corner!

“We’re delighted Condor has added this new non-stop service to Bavaria’s capital,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax International Airport Authority President & CEO. “This increased air service provides our passengers with another destination for European travel while providing our province the opportunity to welcome German tourists. And of course, Munich Airport also provides an excellent point for travelers wanting access to or from Austria and Northern Italy.”

Condor will continue to operate its service to Frankfurt this summer with three weekly non-stop flights. The new Munich flights will be operated on a Boeing 767 which Condor will station in Munich.

„Condor is very pleased to broaden its offering from Halifax airport with this new airlink to Munich Airport, complementing the existing Frankfurt service. As Munich becomes our second hub in Germany, Halifax as a popular destination for European travelers, was the natural choice as our first North American destination from Bavaria’s capital.” Says Wilken Bellmann, Head of Network Development at Condor Airlines. “But we also expect high interest from Canadian travelers wanting to visit Southern Germany or connect anywhere else in Europe with our partner airlines.”

Munich’s airport provides connections to countless European destinations. Condor’s strong partnerships with major European airlines such as Lufthansa, Swiss, Lot and many more allow seamless service for Condor’s customers traveling beyond Condor destinations in Europe.
